How to convert a Claude Design into InDesign

Yes. Download the design's .html from Claude, drop it into idmly, and you get back a native, editable Adobe InDesign (.idml) file — real text frames, named paragraph styles, editable vector charts, images linked in place. Claude Design and Claude artifacts produce finished layouts as HTML: reports, decks, one-pagers, brochures. InDesign doesn't open HTML, and Claude can't write an InDesign file. Why the Claude share link doesn't work

Getting the best result out of a Claude Design
Ask for pages, not a scroll. If the layout is meant to be a multi-page document, tell Claude to wrap each page in a container with class="page" (or slide, or sheet) at a fixed size. idmly then emits one InDesign page per container. A single long scrolling layout still converts, but as one tall frame you'll need to split.
Keep images inside the file. Embedded (base64) images and public https image URLs both come through and land in a linked Links folder. Images that only exist in a folder next to the export can't travel in a single-file upload — re-export as a self-contained .html to bring them along.
Fonts are bound by name. idmly reports every font the design uses so you can activate them in InDesign; it never outlines text or substitutes a lookalike.
